It's Party Time!!

(I have been trying ALL WEEK to get this post up! We've been having issues with our modem/Internet and a result the pictures weren't uploading-at least I think that's why. So, I'm just going to post it with what I have managed to get uploaded and will hopefully add the rest later.)
We had a birthday party for Landon this year. Sadly, this is the first 'friend' birthday party that any of my kids have had. After talking for a bit, Landon decided to do a 'Superhero Party'. I'm not sure why, but I don't love lots of character things. Plus, I feel like some stuff that they gear towards little kids isn't really age appropriate. So, Landon and I chose a mascot for his party, and this was the guy Landon chose. I loved the personality that came out through these pictures, probably because if Landon were a super hero, I would imagine he'd be just like this little guy, so we used them for his invitations. (images found here and I hope I'm not breaking any laws by using them. I didn't buy them, but I only used the pictures for personal use)Anyway, back to the party. I felt like it was a success. The best part about it was that my mom and dad and sister and our good friend Tim all decided to come up and surprise Landon for his party. Then my sister and her family decided to come too, so the night before the party we had a houseful of our favorite people and were able to party most of the weekend!! Sadly, I was too busy having fun to snap too many pictures. I did catch this cute one of Grant and Miles though! They were such cute friends this visit. To start off they decorated masks, then picked a 'Superhero' name for us (and by us, I mean my mom and Amanda!) to put on their capes.There is NO WAY I could have done such awesome capes. This party would have been a nightmare without Mom and Amanda here! Once they were equipped with masks and capes, we played a relay type of game. They had to dress as Clark Kent (white shirt, tie, shoes) and run down to where the Superhero clothes are and quickly put on a shirt, cape and boots. I thought this game would be fun, but it ended up being quite the flop. Oh well, you live and learn, right?After that we played a game where the kids had to keep their balloon from hitting the ground and take it all the way around the house and land it in the trampoline. I don't really know what that has to do with superheros, but the kids all loved it! I mean, honestly, who doesn't love trying to keep a balloon from hitting the ground?Then Landon opened presents, and he hit the jackpot!! He got some super cool Lego's, some Beyblades (which are like fancy tops that 'battle' each other), a really neat giant basketball hoop and ball, a buzz lightyear and Woody, some Tron Legacy action figures and some other cool toys.

We decided to forgo the pinata this year for a fun game that gives the same results. Instead of them hitting a pinata for candy we had two villains that the kids had to chase and hit with little balls. Every time they hit a villain, the villain would throw a handful of candy. Our villains took their parts seriously and did an awesome job!Then we had mini cupcakes and juice and the kid played and danced for the rest of the time. Overall, I think it was a success!!
