one of those days...

today has been one of those days. all thanks to grant. my 'dream baby'. yeah, not anymore...

today he learned to climb onto the kitchen table. he's not walking yet, but he climbed onto the kitchen table while i was making valentines with the other two kids for their preschool party tomorrow. then threw fit after fit when i tried to stop him from doing it over and over.

he threw about one thousand, no make that two thousand, fits today.

he threw a fit while in his high chair and everything i handed him he would shake his head no to, while grunting 'uh-uh' very emphatically. he had a cup of milk on his tray, so probably not a drink he was wanting. i offered crackers. nope. cheese? no way. applesauce. no. he was adamantly pointing at what he wanted i just wasn't getting it. finally i just started pointing to everything i could see. the sink? the cup? this dish towel? this pitcher of juice? DING DING DING! we had a winner. so i emptied his milk and filled the cup with juice and he was happy. for about ten seconds, until the juice was gone.

he did take a nap today, which is better than yesterday, when he didn't nap at all. but his nap today was all of about an hour. umm...i've got news for you all. that's not near long enough.

he's become quite bossy too, especially when you consider the fact that he can't even talk. but boy, oh boy, he can point and grunt and let you know when you got it wrong.

i actually gave him a valentine sucker today, just to try to get him to stop grunting and whining at me. that also made him happy, this time for about 15 seconds, until he had that thing gone! he probably set a record at how fast he ate that sucker.

i told him is was bed time and he pursed his lips (which he is VERY great at), shook his head, and grunted 'uh-uh'.

he was just all around grumpy all day. whining, crying, tugging, pulling. all day.

steven walked in after a long day at work (he left this morning at 5 something and got home at 7:30) and grant smiles his cutest smile, throws his arms upward and squeals 'Dada!'. umm...where was that chipper cute personality while i was with him all day? that's what i'd like to know!

Sorry it was a grumpy baby day :( Of course he lit right up for his dad...mom's are chopped liver, right? It was grumpy baby day here too--are they plotting against us?

oh I can tell you were VERY frustrated writing this post because nothing is capitalized! I don't capitalize when I am too mad to care...and sometimes I don't capitalized cause I'm too lazy to care...
and even though he throws some good fits...that sure is a cute picture of him and James...

And then the dads wonder why we are exhausted and frustrated and out of patience. Surely that little bundle of "happy to see daddy" couldn't be any trouble during the day!?!

Those men have it so easy. They get to go to work all day then come home to excited kids who go to bed within the hour. Of course they love their dads more.
